Frequency change

Most motor driven appliances can make the transition of 50 Hz to 60 Hz. However the same is not true for the transition from 60 Hz to 50 Hz.

Appliances with clocks and internal timers may not work correctly.

At 60Hz, the motor's native speed will be 20% higher than at 50Hz, and the inductive reactance of the windings will also be higher. The net effect will be that the motor will have less torque.
